University of Toronto Community Radio Inc (UTCRI) is a registered charity (105459325 RR 0001). We use the platform of radio to provide skills development training and experience for students at the University of Toronto and the community at large. We are hiring a full-time bookkeeper to assist our finances.

The position will support UTCRI in all accounting activities. Reporting to the Station Manager or their designate and to the Treasurer of the UTCRI Board of Directors, and interface with external auditor, an outside CPA firm, to prepare financial statements and tax returns at the end of the year.

UTCRI is located in central Toronto at the University of Toronto campus inside of Hart House.  UTCRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package. We have a flexible hybrid workplace. Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Maintain Financial Data (AR, AP sub-ledger, General ledger, day-to day financial records, Month-end accrual and allocation, Year-End adjustment)
  • Analyze financial data and Advice to management  
  • Prepare quarterly Financial Reports
  • Regulatory and Reporting Compliance (submit and pay fees and remits at timely basis)
  • External Business Affiliations (vendors, customers, donors, government, CRA)
  • Prepare and coordinate year-end audit work-papers.
  • Financial and cash management and effective record keeping. 
  • Payroll management, HST management, annual T4 preparation and submission to CRA
  • Preparing Annual Return financial statements for CRTC
  • HR and Group benefit management

Bookkeeper Skills and Qualifications:

Completion of secondary school is required.

Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field or Completion of two years (first level) of a recognized professional accounting program (e.g., Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting) or Courses in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a financial or accounting clerk are required.

Desired Skills and Experience: Developing Standards, Analyzing Information, Dealing with Complexity, Data Entry Skills, Accounting, SFAS Rules, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality. Experience with Quickbooks and payroll software. Experience with Charity CRA compliance.

Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $46,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
